THE DMV and THE NORTH TEXAS TOLLWAY

So in my quest to become an active and responsible member of society, I took my mothers advice(someone write this down) and went to get a Texas drivers license. Since I have been a resident of Dallas, TX for over 8 months now I figure I was slightly past due to be abused by the ladies at the DMV.

I had to drive to the middle of nowhere also known as Jupiter and E. Northwest Highway and wait in line for 10-15 minutes just so she could tell me that my social security card was a must in getting a Texas drivers license of which I did not have. I mean seriously when was the last time you NEEDED your SS card on a moments notice? I even had a student ID with my number on it but according to the disgruntled DMV employee you have to have two seperate forms of ID and then another with your social on it. Credit cards, insurance cards, and any other of the 10,000 cards that I have to carry in my wallet would not be acceptable.

I realize that we live in a border state in which a lot of "refugees" from our bordering country are always coming over but what does that matter??? As long as you have a birth certificate why does the state of Texas care if I am a US citizen or not?? I think that they have larger concerns than my social security card.

Have you driven on the tollway recently?? I have and aside from being run over by a blonde haired woman in a white BMW (I WILL FIND YOU!!!!), I must also deal with the drivers of this great state who seemed to learn by trial and error or possibly by osmosis. They apply makeup, talk on the phone, shift, drink Starbucks, change CDs, eat breakfast, and think of new things each and everyday to concentrate on BUT driving.

I was always taught that when you operate a motor vehicle particularly at high speeds you should concentrate on the road in front of you, not the eyeliner you are applying or the wigline that you are beating in.

And while we are on the subject of the North Texas Tollway, I STILL am convinced that it is a ploy for the state of Texas to steal my money. I realize that they have to build new parts and maintain it BUT they basically give you no other option but to pay 75cents to operate your vehicle on a public motorway. Have you ever tried to get to Frisco using Central Expressway?? It takes twice as long because you have to drive WEST about 15 miles so I guess it comes down to how much is my time worth?? Do I want to waste another 30 minutes or do I want to pay 3.60???

But for now, I am still only licensed to drive by the state of Arkansas and still am an avid Tolltag user.
